Introduction: Markham Park

There’s lots to get excited about at Markham Park. Built on limestone aggregate left behind by dredging machines in a former rock quarry this trail system has 13 miles of varied terrain for every skill level from gentle beginner trails to steep technical climbs and descents. The park has singletrack, rock gardens and fast flowing berms so there’s something for every ability. Whether you’re riding popular trails like Deep Dark Forest, Rock Garden or Armadillo you’ll find each trail has it’s own unique setting and challenge. Every time you visit it’s an adventure – whether you’re working on your technical skills or just enjoying a scenic ride on well maintained trails Markham Park has something for everyone.

In addition to these typical riding paths, a number of broader and more gradual adaptation tracks built for off-road hand-cranked cycles have been added.

Markham Park Mountain Bike Trails in Sunrise, FL, has something for every skill level rider making it one of Florida’s best mountain biking spots. The trails have smooth singletrack for beginners, technical trails for advanced and a mix of intermediate for those in between.

Beginners or warming up can start on the Warm Up Loop which has moderate terrain to get riders comfortable for the more challenging sections ahead. From there you can explore the park’s varied terrain, including rock gardens, jumps and rapid berms on trails such as Rock Garden, Iguana Ridge and Area 51.

The Markham Park MTB trail system also has sections designed to test and refine your technical skills. Trails like Pipeline with the optional wooden bridge and Crime Scene with its steep technical climbs and descents will challenge more experienced riders. For those that want even more the freeride area and pump track near the trailhead has jumps and ramps to hone your freestyle skills.

Throughout your ride at Markham Park you’ll experience a diverse landscape, open meadows, shaded forests and even lakeside loops like the Fishing Hole Loop. Wildlife sightings are common so you might see Florida’s native species like deer, gopher tortoises and birds.
