The Balm Boyette Mountain Biking Trails are nestled in a 5,000-acre nature preserve in Wimauma, Florida.

If you’re looking for a trail system that’s as beautiful as it is exciting, you’ve found the right place. Balm Boyette Nature Preserve offers about 25 miles of purpose-built singletrack and 15 miles of doubletrack, all carved out of a reclaimed phosphate mine. Maintained by the dedicated Swamp Club, these trails wind through pine flatwoods and scrub habitats, offering something for everyone—from first-time riders to full-send shredders.

From Flow to Gnar—It’s All Here

The former mining land brings natural elevation (yes, in Florida!), rolling terrain, and trail variety. You’ll find smooth beginner trails, fun intermediate loops, and expert-only tech that’ll keep even the most seasoned riders on their toes.

Start with warm-up laps on Golf Cart or Sidewinder. Then roll into Spider Berm or Garbage for twisty turns, rollers, and a few surprises. Ready for the main event? Head to Ridgeline—Florida’s most iconic advanced trail. With massive ups and downs, natural drops, and fast flow, Ridgeline delivers the kind of ride that leaves you grinning and wanting more.

Expect Wildlife, Wood Features & Good Vibes

As you weave through pine forests, saw palmetto, and wetlands, keep an eye out for gopher tortoises, deer, or a hawk overhead. The trails are clearly marked and well maintained thanks to the amazing volunteers at SWAMP MTB Club.

You’ll also find wooden features like skinnies, ramps, and bridges—just enough to spice up the ride without being overwhelming. Whether you’re chasing speed, working on skills, or just soaking in the scenery, Balm Boyette is a must-ride destination.

Ridgeline MTB Trail at Balm Boyette

One trail that always comes up in conversation at Balm Boyette is Ridgeline. Widely considered one of the best singletracks in Florida, this advanced-level trail is the most popular in the state for good reason. At 2 miles long, Ridgeline delivers a fast, flowy roller-coaster ride through shaded terrain with steep, rolling drops that flow together like nowhere else in Florida.

Riders rave about the elevation changes and sculpted mounds—some reaching 10 to 20 feet high. Descents are thrilling and ascents are just tough enough to test your legs. Because braking on the downhill can kill your momentum for the next climb, the trail design rewards a confident, high-speed approach that amplifies the fun. With no bailouts and a reputation for adrenaline-fueled flow, Ridgeline requires all your courage—and rewards it with every turn.

Trails for everyone!

May 7, 2023

This trail system has something for everyone. There is a flat 1 point something mile long entrance to get to your green, woodsy beginner trails. As you go further into the park, the options open up. The trail builders played ‘connect the dots’ with the high and low points of the retired phosphate mines here. This is where I come to get some serious miles in, challenge myself on Roller Coaster or bring my girlfriend for a calm ride with progressive challenges. You really can’t go wrong riding Balm Boyette. It’s almost guaranteed you’ll see some sort of Florida wildlife as well.

One Word: Ridgeline

April 24, 2023

Balm Boyette Mountain Biking is some of the best trail riding in Florida. All the trails are well-maintained and super flowy. Ridgeline stands out as one of the best trail sections in the area. There’s plenty of elevation, switchback, and wood features. You can blaze through the trail and feel like a Roller Coaster.

Although it is quick and flowing and largely smooth, the tremendous ups and downs are what give it the tough grade.
