Santos Mountain Bike Park

tSantos Bike Trail in Ocala, is one of Florida’s and the entire Southeast’s most renowned trail systems. Founded on an old rock quarry in 1993, the Ocala Mountain Bike Association has been building and maintaining this trail system for decades! Santos offers a wide range of trails for all skill levels.

The main Santos Bike trailhead will lead you to some singletrack through beautiful sand pine scrub forest. There are grassy, flat loops for beginners or riders who want a relaxing cruise through nature. You can also find a few intermediate, and advanced trails weaved into this section of the park.

For those in need of a little more adrenaline rush, don’t worry! You can access a majority of the advanced riding areas through the Santos Vortex Trail Head. This area consists of two abandoned mining pits, and trails range from flat and rolling to rocky and steep. There are plenty of challenging singletrack, wood features, pump tracks, bridges, and epic jump features. This trail section would provide a challenge to the most expert of riders.

The Office of Greenways and Trails received the IMBA designation of “Epic Ride” for its Cross Florida Greenway Santos Trail System. One of only three sites designated in 2006, the Santos trails joined an elite list of only 40 rides named “Epic” by IMBA since 1999. This is a 42-mile ride if you choose to do the whole thing.

As you can see, fun is abundant for every skill level at Santos Bike Park. You might want to plan on staying for a couple of days to take it all in. There’s a campground at the Santos trailhead that has all the amenities for a pleasant stay while you are mountain biking.

Santos Bike Trail | Santos Vortex Reviews

Everything you'd expect and more.

The trails are in excellent condition, beautifully maintained, and a joy to ride.

We never get tired of cycling here because there are so many different spots to explore. Starting at the Santos Trailhead, you may ride into the Ocala National Forest on a beautiful single track. This trail is predominantly green, with a few blues thrown in for good measure. You can also go on an Epic ride through the Vortex trailhead. Vortex includes features for more advanced riders. You can get some serious air on the jump lines, ride throughout the technical single track, or tackle some difficult wood features.

Santos has something for everyone. You can enter at the Santos Trailhead if you’re looking for something easy to ride through the beautiful Ocala National Forrest. Or you can enter through the Vortex Trailhead for an epic adventure.

If you want to be challenged, Vortex has everything you need – huge dirt jumps, tabletops, pump tracks, cool wood features, and technical single track. It also features a vertical drop that is roughly 20 feet in height.
